The Maritime Energy Transition Project (MAREN) is a collaboration between Nordic countries with the aim of accelerating the maritime sector’s transition to green energy sources. Building on two previous MAREN projects, MAREN III focuses on implementing the opportunities offered by green and digital corridors in the Nordics. The maritime corridor between Umeå–Vaasa, along with the rail corridor Umeå–Trondheim, connects the Baltic Sea with the Atlantic Ocean.

MAREN III, titled “Green and Digital e2e-Corridors in the Nordics”, aims to strengthen Nordic supply chains by developing green and digital transport corridors that are linked to global supply chain networks. The project will use data-sharing technologies that enable greater visibility, disruption management, and real-time emission tracking – ensuring transparency throughout the entire end-to-end supply chain.

As part of the project, partners will test digital solutions in one Nordic corridor, with Umeå–Vaasa at the core, and with the possibility of expanding to two additional corridors. This corridor will make it possible to connect the Baltic Sea with the Atlantic Ocean. MAREN III strengthens the Nordic transport network and will contribute significantly to the development of green and digital corridors worldwide.
