The NORHyWAY Hydrogen Valley showcase hydrogen’s vital role in driving the green transition, while actively tackling sector-specific challenges.
By integrating a diverse set of independent yet interconnected use cases, each with a high technology readiness level (TRL), proven operational experience, and access to low-cost, 100% renewable electricity, the Valley significantly reduces the investment risk for green hydrogen initiatives.
NORHyWAY accelerate the development of a robust hydrogen market through technological innovation, regulatory collaboration, and economies of scale that drive production costs down, making green hydrogen a viable and competitive alternative to fossil fuels.

NORHyWAY is a key enabler for establishing full-scale, multi-sector hydrogen value chains in Mid-Norway, with clear European relevance through:
• Technical collaboration and knowledge exchange beyond national borders.
• Synergies with other Hydrogen Valleys and EU hydrogen projects with the North Sea Circle collaboration
• Strategic alignment with European energy policy and regulations.
• Policy support and advocacy for favourable hydrogen frameworks.

The project demonstrates a fully integrated and scalable Hydrogen Valley ecosystem with effective Valley structuring, project financing mechanisms, and market integration strategies. A digital marketplace will connect hydrogen producers and consumers with bankable offtake agreements and viable pricing models.
Mid-Norway occupies a strategic geographic position with access to key transport routes, including maritime, rail, and road networks, connecting central Europe to the Arctic and Sweden, Finland and the Baltics to the Atlantic. The corridor from Bothnia/Baltic Sea through Mid-Sweden and Mid-Norway is vital for resilience and strategic connectivity.
The region is a central hub for industrial aquaculture, fisheries, maritime activity and heavy-duty transport. Hydrogen offtake potential in these heavy and long-distance transport sectors makes the region ideal for developing a fossil-competitive hydrogen market.
To fully leverage the location and the key strengths of the North Sea region, NORHyWAY is establishing a comprehensive North Sea Circle collaboration with existing and emerging H2Vs in Ireland, Iceland, Sweden, Denmark, Belgium, Finland and Germany. These collaborations are key enablers for NORHyWAY’s integration into the TEN-T corridors: North Sea-Baltic, North Sea-Rhine -Mediterranean and Scandinavian-Mediterranean.
NORHyWAY represents a scalable, replicable, and strategically significant initiative to accelerate the hydrogen economy in Europe and beyond.
